Orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) or orodispersible tablets are
user-friendly dosage form that disperses rapidly before being swallowed, usually within a matter of seconds,
when placed upon the tongue.

In the guidance given by the United States FDA, this type of tablets should be designed to disintegrate
approximately 30 seconds or less, when based on the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) disintegration
test method or alternative.

It is popular in the pharmaceutical industry and owing to its benefits,
the popularity of this dosage form has increased in the dietary supplements industry recently.
